Fun tools: Wordle & Poll Everywhere!

Wordle and Poll Everywhere are fun tools to use in the classroom, they make learning fun and enjoyable for any student. Poll Everywhere is an audience response system, it allows you to give polls and see other peoples opinions on what you are asking in your poll, this allows you to know your students on another level.Wordle is a text analysis tool that allows you to have a screen shot of all of your poll results, this is shown in a very creative way. In my particular poll I asked, "Who is your favorite celebrity" as you can see the results are on my previous post made with Wordle. This activity allowed me to know more about my peers and out of 26 students no celebrity was the same, which was very interesting.

Wordle Lesson Plan:
Give students the ability to use Wordle as a studying tool, for all the United States presidents. This would be a fun and creative way to show the students who all their presidents are. To not get them confused, you could number them before you put all the names in Worlde. I feel this would be a fun and effective way for them to know their presidents instead of just giving them a boring study guide to look at and study. This could be for any grade and any class, but I feel the younger generation would love it because they can be putting their technology skills to the test while studying.

Poll Everywhere Lesson Plan:
This tool is very useful to teachers, because you can turn your lesson plans into a poll! You could ask, "Who is your favorite president and why?" This allows you to know your students better, and it also will show if they know their presidents or not. Students should love this activity because its not the usual pencil and paper activity. This allows students to get more excited about the lesson you are teaching and will allow them to get the knowledge they need for that particular lesson.

ISTE:
Technology in education, this is changing our views of the classroom and learning systems. This all allows students to want to learn along with Wordle and Poll Everywhere activities. I'd love to see classrooms use all of these for learning tools, I feel they could be very effective in the classroom!

  1. I love the Wordle and Poll Everywhere lesson plans! I was trying to think of ways to intergrate them into history lessons and I think these are great ways.
